Julia Chou is the Chief Operating Officer at Abridge. In her capacity as COO, Chou has overseen exponential growth of every facet of Abridge: quintupling headcount in less than a year; opening offices in San Francisco and New York; helping to raise a $150 million Series C round—the largest-ever in healthcare AI; and signing partnerships with dozens of healthcare systems representing tens of thousands of clinicians across the country, highlighted by Abridge being chosen as the enterprise-wide clinical documentation solution by Kaiser Permanente, the largest-ever deployment of AI in healthcare.Previously, Chou worked at Google before co-founding Binti, focused on making adoption and foster parenting more accessible. Morgan Cheatham is a Vice President with Bessemer Venture Partners where he leads healthcare and life sciences investments from seed to growth stages. He focuses across the value chain spanning software, therapeutics, services, and diagnostics, to improve patient care from bench to bedside with a specialization in applications of computation.

Morgan is pursuing medical training at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University with a research focus in bioinformatics and genomics. His research collaborations include the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered AI, where he investigates the clinical utility and validation of LLMs, and the Harvard Department of Biomedical Informatics, where he is developing and researching large pre-trained AI models to answer questions in the biomedical domain. He is also a Board Director at the Coalition for Health AI and a member of the New England Journal of Medicine Artificial Intelligence Editorial Team.

Dr. Carolyn Clancy serves as the Assistant Under Secretary for Health (AUSH) for the Office of Discovery, Education & Affiliate Networks (DEAN), Veterans Health Administration, effective July 22, 2018.  The Office of the DEAN fosters collaboration and knowledge transfer with facility-based educators, researchers and clinicians within VA, and between VA and its affiliates.

Prior to her current position, she served as the Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the second-largest Cabinet in the department, with a $246 billion budget and over 424,000 employees serving in VA medical centers, clinics, benefits offices, and national cemeteries, overseeing the development and implementation of enterprise-wide policies, programs, activities and special interests.  She also served as the VHA Executive in Charge, with the authority to perform the functions and duties of the Under Secretary for Health, directing a health care system with a $68 billion annual budget, overseeing the delivery of care to more than 9 million enrolled Veterans.  Previously, she served as the Interim Under Secretary for Health from 2014-2015, the VHA AUSH for Organizational Excellence, overseeing VHA’s performance, quality, safety, risk management, systems engineering, auditing, oversight, ethics and accreditation programs from 2013-2014, as well as ten years as the Director, Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

She is a general internist and health services researcher, a graduate of Boston College and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She is a highly experienced and nationally recognized physician executive.

Maggie Engler is the technical safety lead for Copilot, Microsoft's consumer AI product. She is the co-author of Introduction to Generative AI and has taught courses on data science and artificial intelligence at Georgetown University and the University of Texas at Austin. Previously, Maggie led technical safety at Inflection AI, fought platform manipulation at Twitter, and built systems to detect online disinformation campaigns, malware, and fraud. She is endlessly curious about how things break, and how to fix them.

Maggie holds bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

Alistair Erskine, MD serves as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Officer for Emory University, including the Woodruff Health Sciences Center and Emory Healthcare. He is responsible for the digital transformation of the Emory academic medical center through partnerships and cutting-edge technologies. He oversees a team of over 1,000 staff that integrates predictive, conversational, imaging or generative AI into academic, research, clinical, and administrative workflows to enhance the experiences of students, patients, faculty, and staff.

Before joining Emory, Dr. Erskine was the Chief Digital Officer at Mass General Brigham, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. He led their Digital Health Strategy and Digital Health division, including the Electronic Health Record, Health Information Management/Interoperability, Virtual Care and Data Analytics. He continues to teach clinical informatics and digital health at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Erskine also served as Chief Informatics Officer at Geisinger Health System, where he oversaw its Unified Data Architecture. He previously held roles at Virginia Commonwealth University as Associate Dean of Medical Informatics and was appointed to the Virginia Governor’s Health Information Technology Commission. His international experience includes two years in Doha, Qatar, as Chief of Health Informatics at Sidra Medical and Research Center.

Dr. Erskine trained at Brown University and Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and was triple Board-Certified in Internal Medicine, Clinical Informatics and Pediatrics. He completed a two-year degree program at MIT Sloan School of Management, with a specialization in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence.

Alan Hutchison is a Vice President at Epic, focusing on organizations beyond the walls of the traditional hospital. He has played an extensive role in managing the growth of our Healthy Planet Population Management platform, including setting strategic directions for the development and deployment of our population health software and services. He was also influential in the creation and development of Payer Platform and Cheers (Epic's CRM). He works across a number of areas at Epic including payers, retail health, value-based care and Medicare Advantage, precision medicine and specialty diagnostics, employer health, and is currently launching Epic’s life sciences program. In his previous role at Epic he provided leadership, guidance, and oversight to client implementations. During this time he helped found and manage the Community Connect program, which connects over 40,000 independent practice physicians on Epic to health systems across the US.

Alan is a graduate of The University of Chicago with a degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Endocrinology, and Immunology at the Institute for Mind & Biology.

Tim Hwang is the General Counsel at Abridge, overseeing legal strategy, public policy, and trust and safety initiatives. His experience at the intersection of AI and public policy is extensive, having held leading positions most recently at Inflection AI, Substack, and Google, where he was the company’s global public policy lead on AI, leading outreach to government and civil society on issues surrounding the social impact of the technology. He has collaborated with the White House on voluntary commitments around AI safety and responsible deployment and has also served as a research fellow at Georgetown’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology. Tim was also the director of the Harvard-MIT Ethics and Governance AI initiative. Hwang wrote Subprime Attention Crisis, a book about the structural vulnerabilities in the market for online advertising. Forbes Magazine has called him The Busiest Man on the Internet.

Zico Kolter is a Professor and the Director of the Machine Learning Department at Carnegie Mellon University. His work spans several topics in machine learning and optimization, including work in AI safety and robustness, LLM security, the impact of data on models, implicit models, and more. He is a recipient of the DARPA Young Faculty Award, a Sloan Fellowship, and best paper awards at NeurIPS, ICML (honorable mention), AISTATS (test of time), IJCAI, KDD, and PESGM.

Dr. Karen E. Knudsen, MBA PhD, is CEO of the American Cancer Society and its advocacy affiliate ACS CAN. An internationally recognized oncology leader and healthcare executive, Dr. Knudsen guides both organizations toward the goal of ending cancer as we know it, for everyone. Her expertise in merger and acquisition helped successfully transform and grow ACS from a federated model into a thriving single enterprise.

ACS improves the lives of cancer patients through research, advocacy, and direct patient support, impacting over 55 million annually. As the largest nonprofit funder of cancer research outside the U.S. government, ACS’s breakthroughs have reduced cancer mortality. Dr. Joon Lee serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Emory Healthcare, a premier academic health system in Atlanta with 11 hospitals and nearly 500 provider locations. Dr. Lee joined Emory Healthcare in July 2023 after a 27-year career at University of Pittsburg Medical Center, where he served as an interventional cardiologist, clinical researcher, academic leader and physician executive. He is passionate about leveraging technology and data to provide a better patient and provider experience, ensuring equitable care for all members of the community, and building a collaborative and empowered work environment where all team members can advance patient care.

Tom is the CEO and visionary behind Galileo -- a data-driven, multi-specialty care model designed to improve quality and reduce total cost of care. Operating across 50 states and partnered with large employers and health plans, Galileo is one of the fastest growing innovators in care delivery.

Prior to Galileo, Tom helped build One Medical into the leading, independent primary care system in the country. And previously helped launch Epocrates, the #1 mobile app used by clinicians at the point of care.

Tom is a board-certified internist who completed training at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  He received his BS from Yale University, MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine, and MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

Phil works with all of Epic’s software applications to help them use data to better inform product design and roadmap. Phil has experience creating executive analytics, embedding machine learning in clinical care, and designing systems for multi-institutional clinical research. His current focus is Cosmos, a software application that allows collaboration between hundreds of health systems to advance medicine through rapid research and point of care tools. Phil graduated from University of Wisconsin in 2004 and lives in Madison, Wisconsin.

Zachary Lipton is the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Scientist of Abridge, the leading platform for AI-based ambient listening technology in healthcare. Abridge’s technology leverages speech and language models to unburden doctors from repetitive clerical tasks, liberating them to focus on patient care. He is also the Raj Reddy Associate Professor of Machine Learning at Carnegie Mellon University, where he directs the Approximately Correct Machine Intelligence (ACMI) lab. Research focuses include the theoretical and engineering foundations of robust and adaptive machine learning algorithms, applications to both prediction and decision-making problems in clinical medicine, natural language processing, and the impact of machine learning systems on society. A key theme in his current work is to take advantage of causal structure underlying the observed data while producing algorithms that are compatible with the modern deep learning power tools that dominate practical applications. He is the founder of the Approximately Correct blog and a co-author of Dive Into Deep Learning, an interactive open-source book drafted entirely through Jupyter notebooks that has reached millions of readers. Guadalupe Maravilla (b. 1976) is a transdisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, painting, performance, and installation, with a focus on activism and healing. His work is deeply autobiographical, drawing from his personal history as an unaccompanied, undocumented migrant from El Salvador, a journey necessitated by the Salvadoran Civil War. Maravilla’s art explores the physical manifestations of systemic abuse on immigrants, reflecting his own battle with cancer.

Maravilla’s work is featured in the permanent collections of prominent institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, NYC; the Guggenheim Museum, NYC; the Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC; the Brooklyn Museum; Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami. and the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter, Oslo. He has received numerous accolades, such as a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, Soros Fellowship, and Creative Capital Grant. His solo exhibitions have been presented at the Museum of Modern Art NYC, Brooklyn Museum, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, among others. Maravilla has also been included in prestigious group exhibitions like the Liverpool Biennial, the Gwangju Biennale, and is currently at the Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art, Sweden and the Bienal De São Paulo. His work engages with critical issues, merging art and activism to heal and transform.

Dr. Tina Shah is the Chief Clinical Officer at Abridge, an AI company that structures and summarizes medical conversations to unburden clinicians from clerical work, and focus on what matters most—their patients. Dr. Shah is a practicing physician and national expert in physician burnout, workforce wellbeing, and health policy. In 2022, she served as Senior Advisor to the US Surgeon General, where she developed the nation’s strategy to address burnout and the great resignation among the US health workforce. She also served in the White House and US Department of Veterans Affairs over two administrations where she was the VA’s National Director of Clinician Wellbeing. As a seasoned healthcare executive during COVID, Dr. Shah stood up telemedicine for a large health system in GA and led emergency response across tribal hospitals.

As a national expert on burnout and healthcare, she has been featured at the National Academy of Medicine, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Harvard and CBS and NBC news. Dr. Shah received her MD from Thomas Jefferson University and her MPH from Harvard.  Dr. Shah received her MD from Jefferson and her MPH from Harvard. Justin Stinnett-Donnelly, MD MS FACP is board certified in clinical informatics and a passionate advocate for leveraging technology to enhance patient care. With a strong clinical background and deep IT expertise, he has led successful EMR implementations including 5 hospitals consolidating to Epic and a single PACS solution with Visage. As a hands-on physician and IT leader, Dr. Stinnett-Donnelly brings a unique perspective to optimizing healthcare delivery, always placing the people and experience above technology.  Dr. Stinnett-Donnelly is the Chief Health Information officer leading clinical and revenue cycle application teams at the University of Vermont Health Network.Justin lives in South Burlington, VT with his spouse, two children and dog Maple.  

Guru Sundar is the Vice President of Marketing at Abridge, the only purpose-built generative AI solution for clinical documentation. Abridge’s enterprise-grade platform structures and summarizes medical conversations to reduce administrative burden so clinicians can focus on what matters most—their patients. Previously, Guru worked at Butterfly Network and other high-growth startups focused on disruptive foundational technologies. He graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and also obtained an MS in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Through his various professional and personal experiences, Guru has committed his career to improving the healthcare system with the integration of innovative technology.

Ali Truwit is a 2023 graduate of Yale University, where she was a member of the swim team. Just two days after graduation, Ali was attacked by a shark while snorkeling and lost her foot and part of her leg in the attack. Remarkably following the attack, she worked to recover, learn life with a prosthetic and make Team USA for the 2024 Paralympics in swimming. Ali became a two-time silver medalist & American Record holder in the 400 meter freestyle and the 100 meter backstroke at the Paris Paralympic Games. Ali will work as a Business Analyst at McKinsey Consulting beginning this fall in the healthcare sector. She will also continue her work to champion disability awareness and opportunity through her foundation, strongerthanyouthink.com, public speaking, and content projects.

As Chief Digital Officer, Laura Wilt leads the alignment of innovation, digital tools, technology, and analytics across Sutter Health. She oversees all aspects of Sutter’s unified digital strategy, including teams in information services, technology, design and innovation, digital patient experience, and data analytics.

Wilt previously served as Chief Information Officer at Ochsner Health, where she worked with innovation teams across the organization to develop and support new care delivery solutions, digital tools and build patient management capabilities. Before working at Ochsner Health, she led a boutique healthcare IT consulting firm; prior to consulting she was part of the implementation services team at Epic.

Wilt earned her bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Tulane University. She is a Certified Healthcare CIO, and a member of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME).
